Quilts for Kids – Complete!

Quilts for Kids – Complete!

I previously blogged about this neat organization called “Quilts for Kids” which sends quilts to children in need. They have now sent almost 2,000 quilts to those in Oklahoma displaced by the horrible tornadic storms. Amazing!

I received my free quilt in the mail earlier this week and put aside all of my other projects to complete this quilt as soon as possible!

Here’s the kit!

The fabric comes precut- such a great time saver!

The top took 1-2 hours to piece – sometimes its really nice to have a quick project! Isn’t the school print just darling?

Machine quilting on a home machine can be exhausting so why not pause to take a picture half way there!

All finished!  The organization asks that you wash and dry the quilt once complete. Because the fabric wasn’t prewashed (pre-shrunk) and I used poly batting (no shrinking), the fabric shrinks up in the dryer and gets a nice soft crinkly look that I love!Quilt for Kids

The quilt was all packed up last night and shipped to PA for inspection this morning. As soon as it has been inspected, the quilt will be sent to those in need.

I encourage you all to take the time to make a quilt for this organization. You can use one of their free kits, or make a quilt from your own stash. They even provide some free patterns on their website!

As always, happy quilting!
