Thankful Thursday and Happy New Year

Thankful Thursday and Happy New Year

Happy New Year, Friends!  2014 has been a fabulous year for my little family, and we have so very much to be thankful for!

Since this holiday neatly falls on a Thursday, I’m participating in Yvonne’s fabulous Thankful Thursday series.

Thankful Thursday

Of course this year has been filled with a plethora of quilts but I’ll leave that for another post.  Today, I’m sharing some of the highlights from this year.

As you know, we’re always on the move.  We moved to Texas right before the new year, living there for 3 months.  Then we made the jump to Arizona where I’ve soaked up as much sun as possible.  Next stop: Japan. We’ll be there in February!

The best news of the year was my sister’s wedding.  Wasn’t she a beautiful bride?

Mike has been extra busy with his F16 training.  Here’s his first flight in the Viper..

and here he is in his last training flight.  Lots of hard work in between! Final F16 Flight

A few weeks ago we celebrated his graduation from F16 training and his official transition from AF pilot to an AF fighter pilot.  I couldn’t be prouder!

This year also marked many visits and vacations with friends.  I’m so thankful for their friendships and their willingness to visit me.

Jessie came to visit me for a week of quilting and sightseeing! Grand Canyon Visit

I went home for a week this summer.  Here I am with my sister-in-law, Emily!

I’m home spending Christmas with my family.  What a joyful time! My sister and I enjoyed the best sangria made by my mother-in-law while hanging out with family and friends.

Here’s Mom and I headed to our Christmas Eve service. Love her!

The day after Christmas I chopped off all my long locks and donated them to Locks of Love.  It was definitely time for a change and I’m happy I got the chance to do something good with all that hair!

We ended the new year with a visit from our old neighbors from Mississippi, Lizanne and Andrew.  Oh, how I missed them!  We spent a few days together touring around our home town and visiting NYC.

I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for us.  I’ll keep sharing my adventures with you all.  Happy New Year!!
