Stained Glass Spectrum Quilt – Piecing

Stained Glass Spectrum Quilt – Piecing

I’m writing this blog post after finishing the quilt, but I wanted to share all the processes of what ended up being one of my favorite quilty finishes of 2017.  Early last year, my mom and mother in law purchased a Stained Glass Spectrum Quilt kit from Craftsy for my birthday full of these beautiful Boundless solids.  They know me well!

At first I was a little daunted by making 76 total triangle blocks.  Quilting can sometimes be tedious but 76 blocks meant 228 sashing strips. Yikes.

After putting on a little music and getting in the zone, the blocks were actually really quick and easy to do.  I really enjoyed piecing the blocks and adding them to the design wall one by one to get this fun design! Thank goodness the pattern had great instructions for the layout!

I’ve been teaching a fellow milspouse the joys of quilting, and in turn, she’s been helping me photograph some of my quilts. We had a blast making a GIF of the block placement process.  Click HERE to see it!

The fun didn’t stop there.  More photos coming soon!
