“I Love The Doctor” Mini Quilt

Any Doctor Who fans out there?  I might be a bit behind on the fan train as this show just celebrated its 50 year anniversary, but it’s quickly risen as one of my favorite shows.  How could you resists a quirky alien who travels in time and space, constantly saving the human race (and others) from some terrifying monsters?

I decided to use my EQ software to draw up a mini quilt inspired by the show.  Using a play on the Doctor’s two hearts, I had so much fun creating this mini!

I Love the Doctor

I found a fat quarter in my stash that reminded me of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey… stuff (name that episode!) so I used that for most of the appliqué and borders.

The gorgeous Arizona sunshine helped me get a better shot of the mini.  I’m going to have to find a place for it on my sewing room wall now.

I Love The Doctor

Pattern is coming soon!  I’m looking for a few testers who would be willing to test this one for me.  It only took me a few hours to make! Let me know if you’re interested by emailing me (Rachel@Quiltineering.com) or commenting here.

If you’re a fan of the show, leave me a comment telling me who your favorite doctor or companion is.  I’m partial to Matt Smith’s Doctor, especially those episodes with Amy and Rory.  Rory is just so darn sweet!

  • I grew up watching Tom Baker and his scarf and jelly babies (and hiding behind the couch during the frightening bits) but I have really enjoyed the new series, especially David Tennant. The wibbly wobbly phrase has popped up in a few episodes of the new series. Bow ties are cool. I hope K-9 comes back.

Okay, it’s not just you. We recently started watching.. ahem.. binge watching Doctor Who and are totally addicted. We’re as far as the Pandorica opening. How cool would it be to do a pillow with a paper pieced tardis on one side and your I heart the Doctor on the other side? Allons-y!

  • You ARE sending this to me, right?! I only started watching it last year… earlier this year?! Somewhere in there… But totally hooked. The kids watch it with me because my husband couldn’t care less.

Don’t Blink! :D At least I think that was the episode of timey-wimey fame. Your mini is really, really cute. Are you ready for the new one on Saturday?!?! I can hardly contain my excitement. :D

I love comments!
